What is the width of Shweshwe fabric?
Shweshwe fabric is 89/90cm wide (36 inches), before washing. Allow an average shrinkage of 9,5% on the warp and 0.7% on the weft.
What is the average weight of Shweshwe?
Before washing, the fabric weighs approximately 158g per running metre. After washing, this is approximately 142g per running metre, due to the starch being removed.
Are there any special washing instructions?
Colours should be washed seperately, no bleaching, tumble drying or dry cleaning. All lengths up to 5m are supplied pre-washed by us.
Is Shweshwe fabric 100% cotton?
Yes, making it ideally suited to patchwork. In addition, the fabric makes stunning fashionable garments.
